Presentation by Professor Sally Walker on the Report of the Independent Review of the Adoption of the Model Code on Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom
Professor Sally Walker AM has received permission from the Minister for Education to speak to the Australian Chairs and Secretaries of Academic Boards and Senates group about her recent Independent Review of the Adoption of the Model Code on Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom.
The University of Sydney will host this event via Zoom on Friday 9 April from 11.00am-1.00pm (Sydney time).
Please contact Kate Calhau at email@example.com to obtain the link to pre-register for the meeting.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The registration link you receive in the confirmation email will be unique to you. Please ask your deputy chairs or any secretariat staff who support your Academic Board/Senate to register separately.
We would also prefer to keep this event to the Australian Chairs and Secretaries of Academic Boards and Senates group (including deputy chairs/presidents and secretariat and governance staff who support the Academic Board/Senate). As such, we ask that you do not distribute the registration link elsewhere in your institution. This will allow any discussion and questions to focus on the model code as it is relevant specifically to the work of Academic Boards/Senates.
Professor Walker has also asked that you keep a copy of her report open in front of you during the presentation. The report can be downloaded here: https://www.dese.gov.au/higher-education-reviews-and-consultations/resources/report-independent-review-adoption-model-code-freedom-speech-and-academic-freedom.
Please contact Kate Calhau at firstname.lastname@example.org with any queries.
